Description
Stainless Steel Round Bar, often referred to as bright bar or solid bar, is crafted from stainless steel enriched with chromium, offering outstanding corrosion resistance. Enhanced grades featuring greater alloy concentrations also possess superior resistance to acids, chlorine, and alkaline solutions. These characteristics, along with their inherent durability and strength, make stainless steel round bars a favored choice across transportation, construction, automotive, and petrochemical sectors.
The round bar is produced through either cold finishing or hot finishing techniques and comes in various grades and diameters to accommodate a diverse range of applications.
Grade 303 – Known for its excellent machinability, this grade is widely used in projects requiring intensive machining.
Grade 304 – Often referred to as the standard “18/8” stainless, it is known for its superb forming and welding properties. The low carbon variant, Grade 304L, does not require post-weld annealing, making it suitable for heavy gauge parts.
Grade 316 – Among austenitic stainless steels, it ranks second in popularity to 304 and includes molybdenum, enhancing its corrosion resistance over 304, particularly against pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. It also exhibits excellent forming and welding properties.
Grade 420 – Characterized by a minimum of 12 percent chromium, this grade can be heat treated via quench-and-temper methods. Optimal corrosion resistance is achieved when the metal is hardened and surface finished, either by grinding or polishing.
Grade 431 – This nickel-bearing martensitic grade offers the best corrosion resistance, excellent tensile and torque strength, and high toughness, making it ideal for use in shafting and bolts.
Steelmor produces stainless steel round bar ranging from 5mm to 450mm in diameter, specializing in Grades 304/304L, 316/316L, and Special Alloys.
